The Publicity and Advocacy Advisor for the National Population and Housing Census 2024 has revealed that technical challenges in the Computer Aided Personal Interview (CAPI) machines delayed the enumeration exercise today May 10th 2024.
He says “some machines somehow slipped through the process without the relevant software being properly installed”.
Mr. Alfred Musamali adds that enumerators are also facing logging in challenges because they are not accustomed to the new technology.
Uganda is holding the first digital national census that will run for ten day till May 19 2024 under the theme “It matters to be counted”
Mr. Musamali is optimistic is not too late to bridge up the gaps.
“The consolation, though, is that we are working round the clock to overcome all these challenges. We, in addition, have two weekend days ahead during which many of you may still remain at home to be counted so it is not yet too late. But in case that is still not possible kindly empower any responsible and knowledgeable person remaining at home, such as the secondary school student on holiday, to provide us with the information. Once again, we thank you for your enthusiasm but request for your further patience.” He noted
