Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development has launched new regulations to limit congestion of petrol stations across the the country. The regulations unveiled by Lands Minister Judith Nabakooba criminalize construction of fueling and service close to each other, near public facilities, residential areas and sensitive ecosystems.

Failure to comply with this and other procedures outlined in the regulations will attract a nine hundred thousand shillings fine or a two year jail sentence or both.

The Ministry said already constructed stations are to be audited and may be demolished if they did not go through required approvals.
